P6 Finish for Montecalvo at Road America

Wednesday, August 11, 2021 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo finished P6 at two hours and forty-minute sprint race at Road America on Sunday.

Montecalvo qualified the car P7 in a session that started dry but ended with rain. Montecalvo’s co driver Zach Veach qualified P13 in the second points paying qualifying session.

“It’s always great to be back at Road America. It’s a fast, technical track, so it’s a lot of fun to drive. Having all the fans out and seeing so many people at the track was awesome too,” said Montecalvo.

“Our qualifying session on Saturday was a little tricky. When it started, it was dry, but then the rain started to fall about halfway through the session before I could get a solid lap in, so we qualified seventh.”

“The start of the race was very hectic, but I was able to stay out of trouble and fall into a rhythm and start clicking off laps. With the pit cycles, we were able to run in first for a few laps, as well as our sister car, but we ultimately cycled back through the pack.”

“Zach did a fantastic job when I handed the car over to him, and the entire Vasser Sullivan crew was flawless all weekend. It was hard-fought race, but I’m happy to come away with sixth place points just behind our sister car in fifth. We would have loved to have finished a little higher on the podium after winning there last year, but I’m glad to come away with two top ten finishes for the team.”

“I’m looking forward to having a few weeks off before we head to Laguna in September. My wife Paige gave birth to our son, Frank Rhodes Montecalvo, on Thursday just before the race weekend started. He hit the checkered flag at 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 21 inches long. I’m looking forward to spending time with my family and being a dad.”

The next race for Frankie will be at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on September 12.  Be sure to follow Frankie on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with current broadcast times and all of Frankie’s exciting racing news.
