Tuesday, June 30, 2026 – Watkins Glen, N.Y. – Frankie Montecalvo and the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 squad battled through a caution-filled Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen on Sunday to secure a hard-fought fourth-place finish, elevating the team into second place in the IMSA GTD championship standings.
In one of the most unpredictable races of the season, strategy was constantly evolving as multiple full-course cautions shuffled the field throughout the six-hour endurance contest. Despite the chaos, Montecalvo, and co-drivers Aaron Telitz and Benjamin Pedersen, and the entire Vasser Sullivan crew remained composed, keeping the No. 12 Lexus out of trouble while running among the leaders for much of the afternoon.
“It was definitely a weekend of highs and lows, but the biggest positive is that we had a really fast race car,” said Montecalvo. “The Vasser Sullivan crew gave us a Lexus that could run at the front all weekend, and Aaron, Ben, and I were able to keep ourselves in the fight despite how many cautions and strategy changes there were.”
Although a late setback prevented the team from challenging for the podium, the team remained focused on the bigger picture.
“Endurance racing is all about maximizing the day you’re given, and I think that’s exactly what we did. We spent a good portion of the race running with the leaders, stayed out of trouble when others couldn’t, and came away with another strong finish. More importantly, we were able to gain valuable championship points and move up to second in the standings. That’s a huge credit to everyone on this team.”
The strong result marked another valuable points day for the championship-contending team, allowing the No. 12 entry to gain ground on its closest rivals heading into the second half of the season.
“I can’t thank everyone on the Vasser Sullivan team enough for their efforts all weekend long and giving us such a great car to fight for a win. Congratulations to the No. 14 crew on their victory. I’m incredibly happy for Ben [Barnicoat] and Jack [Hawksworth] on their much-deserved win at the Glen! I’m already looking forward to being back in the car next month for Road America.”
