Monday, June 26, 2023 – Highlands, NJ – After six hours of hard-fought racing, Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo and co-drivers Aaron Telitz and Parker Thompson won the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of The Glen.
Montecalvo had been fighting for a win at the Glen since the start of his sports car racing career. He had finished on every step of the podium except for the top, but that finally changed on Sunday after executing a perfect race both on the track and in the pits.
“It’s an absolutely amazing feeling to have finally won at Watkins Glen,” said Montecalvo.
“This is incredible for us. I feel like the No. 12 car in general has always been there in the fight for the win, and then bad luck strikes, and it’s taken away from us, but today was our day.”
“The team did a phenomenal job all weekend. We rolled off the truck and were fast throughout all the practices. Aaron qualified our No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 second in class. The race saw a lot of cautions and carnage, but thankfully we were able to stay out of trouble and we didn’t have a single mistake.”
“The guys in the pits were incredible and performed each pit stop to perfection. The strategy was fantastic. Aaron and Parker drove extraordinary stints. It’s great to get this win and finally bring it home.”
“I cannot thank everyone enough at Lexus Racing and Vasser Sullivan as well as my two co-drivers for such an amazing weekend. It means so much to me to finally get a win at Watkins, but it wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of each of our team members. Hats off to the entire team! This win is for them.”
Up next for Frankie is the sixth round of the IMSA Weathertech Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada on July 7 – 9. Be sure to follow Frankie on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with all of his racing news.
