Monday, March 17, 2025 – Sebring, FL – Vasser Sullivan drivers Frankie Montecalvo, Jack Hawksworth and Parker Thompson secured a hard-earned second-place finish in the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring. Piloting the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3, the trio showcased exceptional skill and resilience throughout the grueling 12-hour competition.
Hawksworth qualified the No. 12 machine third amongst the twenty GTD class entries. Montecalvo, Hawksworth, and Thompson drove flawless stints and always kept their Lexus within the top ten in the GTD class. The Lexus lead several times throughout the twelve hours and battled hard to keep the lead in the final hour. With just under ten laps remaining, the Winward Mercedes maneuvered past Hawksworth for the top spot, but Hawksworth was able to bring the No. 12 across line in second, securing the first podium-finish of the 2025 season.
“I’m incredibly proud of the Vasser Sullivan team and our second-place finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring. With the heat and the bumps, Sebring is likely the most difficult race of the entire year. Even though it’s half the length of Daytona, Sebring truly tests the cars and drivers the most, so to come away with a second-place finish, is quite the accomplishment,” said Montecalvo.
“Jack had a strong qualifying session and put us in a great spot for the start of the race. The race starts at Sebring are always chaotic with everyone jostling for positions and trying to avoid the major bumps, but Jack did a fantastic job to keep the car clean and in the top-five before handing the car over to me.”
“The Vasser Sullivan team gave us an incredible car this weekend, and once I was behind the wheel I was able to get in a rhythm and click off laps. We worked our way to the lead within the first couple of hours of the race and stayed mostly within the top five positions in class throughout the pit cycles.”
“The Vasser Sullivan crew never put a foot wrong in the pits and called a brilliant strategy. We were all able to keep the car clean and in a position to fight for a win in the end. Jack and Parker drove phenomenal stints. The Winward Mercedes was strong all weekend, and unfortunately, we just didn’t quite have the speed they did in the closing laps. I can’t thank Parker, Jack and the entire Vasser Sullivan team enough for a fantastic job all weekend long. I’m extremely happy to be back on the podium and looking forward to more this season.”
The next event for Montecalvo is the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen on June 22. Don’t forget to follow Frankie on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with broadcast times and all of Frankie’s racing news.
