Thursday, September 19, 2024 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo is gearing up for the penultimate round of the IMSA WeatherTech Championship at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race marks one of the most anticipated events of the season, as the format will change to a 6-hour endurance race.
Montecalvo will share the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 with Parker Thompson and Aaron Telitz. The trio has been successful with similar race formats in the past. While the No. 12 car hasn’t seen the results they would like in the 2024 season, Montecalvo, Thompson and Telitz are hoping to turn their luck around at Indy and finish the remainder of the season strong.
“I can’t wait to get back to Indianapolis for the second to last race of the season. In the past, this event has been the standard two hours and forty-minute length, but this year, the format changes to six hours, which is something we’re all looking forward to,” said Montecalvo.
“Last year we were leading this event, but unfortunately suffered some contact from another competitor that ultimately took us out of the race. We’ve tested at Indy in recent weeks, and I feel that the team have made the car even better since our last outing at Indy.”
“It’s great to have Aaron back in the car with Parker and I for the weekend, and we’re all excited to have another six-hour event. Our Lexus seems to thrive in longer format races. The three of us won at the Watkins Glen six-hour in 2023, and were on for another win this year before contact in the final minutes of the race took us out of contention.”
“I think we have everything we need to be successful at Indy. As we’ve seen more often than not this season, we’ll need to stay out of trouble so we can be there in the end, but we have the car, the lineup and the team to have a strong weekend at Indianapolis. The Vasser Sullivan team has been working tirelessly to give us the best possible car, and Aaron, Parker and I will do everything we can to bring the No. 12 across the line first on Sunday.”
