Wednesday, October 11, 2023 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo is ready to take on the final race of the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech season, Petit Le Mans. The ten-hour endurance event is set to take place on Saturday, October 14 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
Montecalvo will share the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 with full season co-driver Aaron Telitz, and Parker Thompson will complete the line-up for the 2023 IMSA finale. Montecalvo and Telitz currently sit third in the drivers’ championship and will be racing as hard as possible to remain in the top three at the end of the weekend.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the final race of the 2023 season. I can’t believe it’s already time for Petit. It’s been an incredible season, and I’m excited to go into the final round this weekend,” said Montecalvo.
“We tested at Road Atlanta after our race at Indianapolis. It was a quick test to get everything dialed in and set up for this race. Our Lexus always functions well at high-speed tracks like Road Atlanta, so I feel confident that we will be in a good position for the race start on Saturday.”
“It’s going to be a highly competitive field with 19 entries and several additions from Europe coming over for the endurance round. We currently sit third in the GTD championship, so every point matters to us. There is a chance we could move into second place if the Aston in second has a bad day, and we finish well. However, there’s also a chance to fall to fourth if we have a bad day, so we’re going to do everything we can to ensure that doesn’t happen.”
“We’ll have Parker Thompson back in the car with Aaron and I for this race. Parker was with us when we won at Watkins Glen, and we would love to close out the season with another win. I know everyone at Vasser Sullivan has been working hard to put us in the best position to have a successful weekend. If we can minimize our time in the pits during the race and stay out of trouble, I think we’ll be in a good position to fight for a win. It’s been a great season, and we’re hoping to finish the 2023 season strong.”
On track action for Petit Le Mans begins Thursday, October 12 and continues through Saturday. The green flag flies for the 26th running of Petit Le Mans at 11:40 AM ET on Saturday, October 14.
