Montecalvo Ready to Take on Battle on The Bricks at Indy

Thursday, September 14, 2023 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan drivers Frankie Montecalvo and Aaron Telitz are ready to take on the TireRack.com Battle on The Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

After nearly a decade since IMSA’s last visit to Indy, this will be a new test for most of the drivers in the field. While Montecalvo competed at the IMSA event in 2014 in an LMPC car, the event ran on a different track configuration, so for Montecalvo, it feels like learning a new circuit.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. It’s been so long since we’ve been there that I almost forgot driving there in the LMPC program in 2014,” said Montecalvo.

“The configuration is a bit different from 2014 and obviously the Lexus RC F GT3 is much different than the PC car, so it kind of feels like learning a new track all over again, which doesn’t happen often, so that’s a lot of fun.”

“We tested there several weeks ago which was massively helpful rolling into the final sprint race of the year and second to last race of the IMSA WeatherTech season. We’re currently sitting third in the championship points, so our hope is to score as many points as possible and try to take over second place ahead of the final race at Petit Le Mans next month.”

“I know everyone at Vasser Sullivan has been working hard to get our car set up and ready to go after VIR, so I have no doubt we’ll roll off the truck in a solid position for our first practice on Friday. I’m looking forward to bringing the IMSA WeatherTech series back to Indy, and Aaron and I will be doing everything we can to get our No. 12 Lexus to the checkered flag first on Sunday.”

On track action for Montecalvo begins Friday, September 15 and continues through the weekend. The green flag flies for the two hours and forty minutes sprint race at 1:10 PM ET on Sunday. You can watch Frankie race live on NBC Network with coverage beginning at 1:00 PM ET. Don’t forget to follow Frankie on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with all of his racing news.
