Montecalvo Looking Forward to GT Only Event at VIR

Thursday, August 25, 2022 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo is ready to take on the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR on Sunday, August 28. The GT only sprint race marks the penultimate round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to VIR and building off the energy from our podium finish at Road America,” said Montecalvo.

“The Vasser Sullivan team has been functioning flawlessly, and I know they will continue to do so this weekend at Virginia.”

“Last year we saw our sister car take a third place finish at VIRginia International Raceway. We showed great pace all weekend in the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3, but unfortunately, we had a bit of bad luck that took us out of contention for a win.”

“We’re hoping to turn that luck around this weekend and keep the momentum from Road America going at VIR, and then on to Road Atlanta for the final round of the season.”

“I’ve never been on the podium at VIR, and I’d really like to take one of those Michelin Man trophies home on Sunday. Aaron and I have been searching for our first win of the season, and we would love to bring it home this weekend. I know the team will execute perfectly, and Aaron and I will be pushing as hard as we can for our first win of the 2022 season.”

On track action for the Michelin GT Challenge at VIRginia International Raceway begins Friday, August 26 and continues through the weekend. The green flag flies for the two hours and forty minutes sprint race on Sunday, August 28 at 2:10 PM ET. You can watch live on the Peacock App with coverage beginning at 2:00 PM ET. To stay up to date with current broadcast times and all of Frankie’s racing news, be sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter.
