Montecalvo Hopeful to Bring Winning Momentum to Canada

Thursday, July 6, 2023 – Highlands, NJ – After their win at Watkins Glen almost two weeks ago, Vasser Sullivan drivers Frankie Montecalvo and Aaron Telitz are hoping for the double this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Montecalvo put the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 on pole at the two hours and forty-minute Canadian sprint race in 2022, the first year back at the circuit since 2019. Unfortunately, a first lap, first corner incident with a car in another class spoiled the day for Montecalvo and Telitz. The duo is hopeful that their bad luck is officially behind them and are looking forward to competing for another win.

“I’m very excited to get back to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. It’s my favorite track in North America, so I can’t wait to start turning laps there on Friday,” said Montecalvo.

“Not only is it my favorite track, but the Lexus RC F GT3 functions very well there too. It’s a high-speed circuit which suits our car well. The track was carved into the topography of the land, so there’s a ton of elevation change, lots of high-speed sections, but not a lot of room for error.”

“Coming off our first win of the season, Aaron and I feel confident going into the weekend. I know everyone at Vasser Sullivan has been working hard over the past two weeks to get our car set up and ready to go for Canada, so I know we’re going to roll off the truck strong.”

After their win at Watkins Glen, Montecalvo and Telitz sit second in the championship standings. Now into the second half of the season, the pair will be working harder than ever to run trouble-free and score maximum points at each of the next six races.

“It’s great to be in second place in the GTD points championship, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. We try not to look too far down the road and just take it one race at a time, and that starts this weekend in Canada. Our goal is the same as it was the last race, and that is to run consistent laps, stay out of trouble, and spend the minimum amount of time in the pits. If we can repeat that this weekend, I think we have a great shot of another finish on the podium.”

On track action for Montecalvo begins Friday, June 7 and continues through the weekend. You can watch Montecalvo race live at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park with coverage beginning at 12:00 PM ET on NBC Network. Be sure to follow Frankie on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with all of his racing news.
