Montecalvo Hopeful for Success at Road America

Thursday, August 3, 2023 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan drivers Frankie Montecalvo and Aaron Telitz are looking forward to a return to the podium at the IMSA Sportscar Weekend at Road America.

Montecalvo and Telitz finished third at Road America in 2022, but the duo is hopeful to score their second win of the 2023 season this weekend at Telitz’s home track.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Road America this weekend. This is a circuit where we’ve had a lot of success before, so I think this should be a good race for us,” said Montecalvo.

“This is Aaron’s home track, so he has a ton of experience here, and it’s always great to have the extra fans, friends, and family there to cheer us on.”

Montecalvo scored his first IMSA WeatherTech class victory at Road America in 2020 in the Lexus RC F GT3 with Townsend Bell.

“Tracks that you’ve won on are always special, but the track where you had your first series win ever will always be a favorite, and Road America is that for me. Townsend and I won at Road America in 2020. That was my first career IMSA WeatherTech win and first win with Lexus. I’m happy to say that I’ve had a few more wins with Lexus since then, but it would be fantastic to score another victory this weekend.”

“The team continues to function flawlessly both at the shop, getting us prepped and ready for each event, and at the track in the pitlane. We’re coming from one of the shortest tracks on the IMSA schedule at just over one mile at Lime Rock to the longest at Road America at slightly over four miles. There are a lot of changes that need to be made to the car during the time between races, but I have no doubt our guys will have us set up well and ready to race when we hit the track on Friday.”

“While we scored a third-place finish in class at Road America last year, our sister car was on the top step of the GTD Pro podium. We know the Lexus RC F GT3 performs well at this circuit. It’s another high-speed track where the Lexus thrives. I’m hopeful we’re all able to extract the full potential of both the No. 12 and No. 14 cars and end the weekend with two class wins for Lexus.”

On track action for the IMSA Sportscar Weekend at Road America begins Friday, August 4 and continues through the weekend.
