Montecalvo Hopeful for Repeat Win at Road America

Thursday, August 5, 2021 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo is ready to take on the 4-mile circuit of Road America. Montecalvo, who scored his first IMSA WeatherTech series win at Road America in 2020, is hoping for another win this weekend.

“I’m excited to get back to Road America and defend our race win. This is one of my favorite tracks in North America. I had my first IMSA WeatherTech win there last year, so it is very special to me,” said Montecalvo.

“Our Lexus RC F GT3 performs very well at this high-speed circuit. The length of the track and the fast corners, coupled with the Lexus, makes for a perfect package for us to achieve another race win.”

“The Vasser Sullivan crew has been working hard to get the car prepared and set up properly since our last race at Lime Rock. Going from the shortest track on the IMSA schedule to the longest requires a lot of work from the team to get everything ready to go, but we have the best crew in the business. I know we’ll be quick in the first practice on Friday.”

Montecalvo’s co-driver Zach Veach has raced at Road America several times before in the IndyCar Series. But this weekend will be the first time he turns laps at Road America in the Lexus RC F GT3.

“We haven’t tested at Road America this year, so this will be Zach’s first time in the Lexus at Road America. He’s had experience there in an IndyCar, so I have no doubt that he’ll have everything dialed in by the end of the first session.”

“I’m looking forward to getting things going on Friday. After Road America, we have a sizable break before the final four races of the season. It would be great to close out the summer run with our first win of the season for the No. 12 car and another win for the team.”

On track action at Road America starts Friday, August 6 and continues through the weekend. You can watch Frankie race live on NBC Trackpass on Sunday, August 8 at 2:40 PM ET.
