Montecalvo Hopeful for Another Podium in California

Wednesday, May 10, 2023 – Highlands, NJ — Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo is looking forward to the final west coast race of the 2023 IMSA season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. After scoring a third-place finish with co-driver Aaron Telitz at the Long Beach Grand Prix last month, Montecalvo is hoping for another podium-finish in California on Sunday.

“I’m looking forward to getting back on track at Laguna Seca in our No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 after nearly a month break since Long Beach,” said Montecalvo.

“We had a great run at Long Beach and finished P3, so we’re hoping to keep that momentum going this weekend at Laguna Seca. Our sister car had a successful weekend at Laguna last year, and we’ve come a long way with the car since then, so I feel confident in our ability to perform well at Laguna this year.”

“I think all of us in the paddock were looking forward to the new pavement at Laguna Seca, as the circuit is known for being tough on tires and difficult to find grip. However, it sounds like they will start the repaving process after our race weekend.”

Heading into the weekend, Montecalvo and Telitz sit third in the championship with 908 points, only one point behind second place. Although there are plenty of races left on the calendar for the 2023 season, the duo will be vying for every point possible at all the races to come.

“Our guys have done their homework and know what we need to do to roll of the truck and be competitive. The team has done a phenomenal job improving the car at every race, so I have a good feeling about the weekend. Aaron and I are ready to challenge for a podium and keep the championship fight going.”

On track action at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca begins Friday, May 12 and continues through the weekend. You can watch Frankie race live with flag-to-flag coverage beginning at 3:00 PM ET on NBC Network on Sunday, May 14. Be sure to follow Frankie on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with all of his racing news.
