Thursday, August 22, 2024 – Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo is eagerly anticipating the Michelin GT Challenge at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR).
VIR, known for its high-speed straights and technical corners, is a favorite among drivers and will bring out the best in the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3. Montecalvo will race alongside Parker Thompson in the GT-only event and is hoping to find success for the No. 12 this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to VIR after the break since Road America. Historically, we’ve always either been unlucky in the race or finished just outside of the podium at VIR, so that makes us want a successful weekend more than anything,” said Montecalvo.
“The Lexus RC F GT3 performs very well at this circuit. The combination of fast sections and technical turns brings out the best in this car. As long as Parker and I and the rest of the Vasser Sullivan crew put everything together and keep it clean on track and limit our times in the pits, I think we should come away from the weekend with a good result.”
“This is the final sprint race of the season, so it would be great to finish strong at VIR and go into the final two endurance races of the season with that kind of momentum. The entire Vasser Sullivan team has been working hard to ensure we’re prepared for anything, and Parker and I are ready to get the weekend started and fight for a win on Sunday.”
On track action for the Michelin GT Challenge begins Friday, August 23 and continues through Sunday. You can watch Frankie race live with on Sunday, August 25 with coverage beginning at 12:00 PM ET on USA Network and the Peacock App. Don’t forget to follow Frankie on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with current broadcast times and all of Frankie’s racing news.
