Tuesday, July 16, 2024 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan drivers Frankie Montecalvo and Parker Thompson finished P5 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park over the weekend.
Montecalvo qualified their Lexus RC F GT3 on pole for the start of Sunday’s race, and the duo was hopeful to come away with their first win of the 2024 season. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t’ come their way in Canada, but they were able to finish the weekend with a top-five result.
“It was great to be able to put our No. 12 Lexus on pole for the race. I love Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, so when you put a lap together like that one, it’s a special feeling. The team did a phenomenal job to give Parker and I an extremely fast car, and I was happy I was able to deliver the pole,” said Montecalvo.
“Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be this past weekend. Once the race started, we struggled to keep pace with the rest of the field and dropped back a few positions. The team did a fantastic job in the pits for the entire race, and we were able to gain a few positions back once Parker took over.”
“While we didn’t have the pace for the win, we were able to cross the line fifth. We’ve scored three top-five finishes in a row, so we’re hoping to keep that streak going as we continue into the thick of the IMSA WeatherTech season. We learn and improve more and more at each event, and our goal for Road America is to finally score that first win of the season.”
The next event for Montecalvo is the IMSA Sportscar Weekend at Road America. On track action begins on Friday, August 2 and continues through the weekend. Be sure to follow Frankie on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with current broadcast times and all of Frankie’s racing news.
