Montecalvo Ready to Take on Canadian Tire Motorsports Park

Thursday, July 11, 2024 – Highlands, NJ – Vasser Sullivan driver Frankie Montecalvo is ready to head north of the border for the seventh round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. After showing great pace at Watkins Glen in June, Montecalvo and co-driver Parker Thompson are hoping to score their first win of the season for the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

“I’m excited to be headed back to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park this weekend. This is my absolute favorite track in North America, and I cannot wait to start turning laps there on Friday,” said Montecalvo.

“Canadian Tire Motorsports Park suits the characteristics of the Lexus well. Much like Watkins Glen, it’s a highspeed circuit with fast corners and a lot of elevation changes, so it has all the elements to make an exciting racecourse that’s a blast to drive.”

“We showed great pace and had a strong run at Watkins Glen, so we’re hoping to bring that setup and speed to CTMP, but hopefully this time come away with the win. We’ve had pole positions and been on the podium in Canada with the No. 12 Lexus, but have yet to see a win there, so we’re hoping to change that this weekend.”

Montecalvo finished third at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park during his first season with Vasser Sullivan in 2019. He and Thompson are hopeful to see the No. 12’s first win at the 2.5-mile circuit this weekend, and the duo are eager to score their first win of the 2024 season.

“With almost three weeks having passed since Watkins Glen, we’re ready to get back on track on Friday. We know the Vasser Sullivan crew have been working tirelessly the past few weeks to have our car prepped and set to go for the weekend. I’m confident that we will have one of the strongest cars in the GTD field, and I’m looking forward to fighting for a win on Sunday.”

On track action for Montecalvo begins Friday, July 12 and continues through the weekend. You can watch Frankie race live on Sunday, July 14 on USA Network with coverage beginning at 11:00 AM ET.
